Advanced Audiology Services
Troy Medical Plaza, downtown Troy
270.5802; www.advancedaudiologysvcs.com
The audiologist can help you select your hearing aid.
It can be quite daunting, not to mention frustrating, trying to make a decision about which hearing aid to buy.  This is where the services of the audiologist can be instrumental in achieving a successful outcome.  Certainly, with the ever increasingly sophisticated digital technology found in today’s hearing aids, it was never intended that the hearing aid user would have the necessary preparation to make that choice without guidance and assistance from a professional who selects and fits hearing aids for a living.
It is reasonably safe, though not necessarily wise, for the consumer to choose the brand of the hearing aid.  Beyond that decision, the consequences of choices made solely by the consumer can adversely affect a successful outcome.  Most hearing aid manufacturers will have products that will be an excellent choice for a given individual.  The audiologist’s role in selection is to guide and advise the consumer regarding options such as style and level of technology.  In the end, one should wind up with the equivalent of “the best hearing aid for me.”
A frequent question is “Do you carry many brands?”  It is impossible for an audiologist to be equally skilled in fitting the hearing aids of, say, ten different manufacturers.  Carrying many brands does not necessarily translate into advantage or benefit to the consumer.  A more useful bit of information might be the answer to “What kinds of results do you typically get from the hearing aids that you dispense?  Are your patients usually satisfied with the outcome?”  See our ad on page 44.

Attentive Home Companions
Attentive Care has provided quality care to our patients in the Capital District since 1977. We are a locally owned and operated home health care service. Attentive Care is licensed by the New York State Department of Health and fully complies with all regulations governing licensed home care agencies. Our continued goal is to treat every individual with compassion, respect and dignity, while providing quality home health care.
Our initial nursing assessment is a crucial step to ensure that the needs of your loved one are identified and matched with the skills and competencies of our caregivers. Our home health care team is the true heart of our organization. We understand that our success is based on the team’s experience and relationship with your loved one. We invest significant time and attention on screening, training and supervising our employees to ensure that we provide the best quality of care.
It’s apparent that there is a rapidly growing need for non-medical support services in our community. To meet this essential need, we have established Attentive Home Companions, a non-medical home companion service that provides assistance and support, assuring home safety, social interaction, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, community appointments and activities. This service also represents and provides relief from family care-giving responsibilities.
With experience you can depend on, Attentive Care and Attentive Home Companions and our professional staff will continue to provide quality services to help you every step of the way. See our ad on page 44.
