The Home to a New Generation
The active “55 and better” generation has many living options these days from continuing to live in a two-story home, to renting an apartment in a multi-level high-rise building. With so many choices, it can be difficult to distinguish the qualities of a future home that you long for the most. While a lot of communities have similar amenities, such as 24 hour emergency maintenance, inclusive cable/internet services, in-unit washer and dryers, how many also offer direct-access attached garages?  Personalized access via your private front porch? Private rear patios? One-story living with no one living above or below you? If these are the extra amenities you have been looking for and have not found, look no further than The Spinney at Pond View and The Spinney at Van Dyke. The Spinney properties are age-qualified, active adult communities located in Castleton-on-Hudson and Delmar, respectively, built on the model of being the Home to a New Generation.
Given both communities’ popularity, both are growing! The next phase of each community will include brand-new cottages, as well as expansive welcome centers for residents, including a pool, fitness center, and activity space. If The Spinney’s cottages sound like the right fit for you, come tour our Model Cottages 7 days a week from 12-4pm. For more information, see contact information above or visit us to see why the Spinney is the Home to a New Generation!

Who should administer my injectables?
Choosing your injectable provider can seem overwhelming. Everyone from dentists to podiatrists and gynecologists are administering injectables like Botox® Cosmetic. When you are deciding who is best qualified, keep in mind that only a plastic surgeon spends years of additional training focused on surgically reconstructing and rejuvenating the appearance of the face. Performing procedures such as a facelift or eye lift requires technical skill, artistry, and knowledge of facial anatomy. So a plastic surgeon’s experience with facial beauty and aesthetics can dramatically enhance the results of your injectable treatment.
Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC offers a wide range of surgical procedures designed to minimize the signs of aging. While cosmetic surgery can provide beautiful results, injectables can often be an effective beauty alternative for those with mild to moderate aging concerns. Injectables can be a highly beneficial beauty treatment option when used as a preventative measure, treating the first sign of wrinkles, fine lines, or loose skin. Starting injectables at a younger age prevents the development of permanent resting frown lines.
An ExpertInjector™, like Dr. Yarinsky, is specially endorsed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and New Beauty Magazine as a quality provider for injectables. Visit to confirm that Dr. Yarinsky is the only expert injector listed in the Capital District region and Upstate New York. Before your next treatment, research your provider’s knowledge and familiarity with facial anatomy and injectable safety before you make a decision. For more information about injectables and to schedule a consultation, please call us today.

New baby boomer Hepatitis C testing law
Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is spread by blood to blood contact. If left untreated, it can cause serious liver damage and/or liver cancer. An estimated 2.7 million Americans and 200,000 New Yorkers are living with hepatitis C. Most people do not know that they have it. The good news is, new more effective treatments are now available that can cure most people living with hepatitis C. The first step toward that cure is knowing that you have it.
On January 1, 2014, the New York State Hepatitis C Testing Law went into effect. The law requires the offering of a hepatitis C screening test to every individual born between 1945 and 1965 receiving inpatient hospital care or primary care.
Why baby boomers? Three out of four persons with hepatitis C are baby boomers. The reason that baby boomers have high rates of hepatitis C is not completely understood. Many baby boomers could have gotten infected from contaminated blood and blood products before widespread screening of the blood supply began in 1992 and universal precautions were adopted. Others may have become infected from injecting drugs, even if only once in the past. Still, many baby boomers do not know or remember how or when they were infected. Since people with hepatitis C can live for decades without symptoms, many baby boomers are unknowingly living with the infection.

When a nursing home is not the answer
Sometimes living independently is no longer a good idea for older adults who face challenges with daily activities like keeping house or managing medications.  Long-term skilled care is expensive and may not be necessary or desirable. The Wesley Community has a New York State Health Department-licensed residential enriched living program that fills this in-between need.
The enriched living program at Woodlawn Commons provides subtle, 24-hour a day staff support that encourages independence and provides peace of mind to the residents and their loved ones. Participants reside in individual apartments equipped with an emergency call system.  Apartments have a sitting room, kitchenette, bedroom and easily accessible bathroom, which feel more like home than single rooms offered by other providers. Three meals a day are served restaurant-style in our dining room.
Resident services are overseen by a registered nurse, who ensures each person has a service plan tailored to his or her needs. Housekeeping and laundry services, scheduled transportation, medication management and assistance with other daily living activities are included. Residents can socialize and participate in a life-enriching events and activities.
The Wesley Community also offers the full spectrum of long-term care services, outpatient therapies for all ages, short-term rehabilitation and adult day services, as well as independent housing for seniors in all income brackets.
Call today and see why The Wesley Community deserves its reputation as a community that cares.
