hive
321 Main Street, Schoharie
702.5084; www.hive321.com(under construction)
hive, situated in an old, restored Victorian home at the beginning of the Business District in the Village of Schoharie, opened its doors on Mother’s Day May 12, 2013.  I saw the potential of a wonderful shop even though the effects of Hurricane Irene lingered.  I saw this as an opportunity to give back to this community and this was a great way to start.

When I first considered purchasing the building, I could already see it restored in my mind’s eye. Much of the original woodwork, pocket doors and floors were saved. I purchased the building in November of 2012; work was actively under way in January 2013.  I succeeded in meeting my goal to open for Mother’s Day.

The five rooms on the first floor are filled with antiques, vintage, modern, industrial, handcrafted and local items.  hive also has fresh-baked goods from a local baker on the weekends. It’s constantly evolving.  I never know what I’ll bring in from one week to the next. But I know one thing: I want hive to be a place where people can come to find that little something different.

hive…a bit out of the ordinary. Hours:  Wednesday 10am–5pm; Thursday-Saturday 10am–6pm; Sunday 11am–4pm.
