Describe your business.

We’re a full service bead store! We offer an extensive variety of beads and beading supplies, hand-crafted jewelry, classes, birthday parties, ladies’ nights out, jewelry repair, and a work table that gives you the opportunity to come in and make your own jewelry (with NO sitting fee!).

How long have you been in business?

A Bead Just So was opened June 1st, 2013.

Have you always wanted to own your own business?  If not, how did you come to do so?

Yes, although when I was very young I didn’t know what kind, and I’ve never liked the idea of working for someone else. I fell in love with beading when I was 12, when my mother took me to Saratoga Beads. When I was 18 I got a job there, and on my first day I knew that owning my own bead store was what I was supposed to do. I took the plunge into opening the shop after the owner of Saratoga Beads decided to retire – it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!

Who do you admire most in business?

I admire any woman in the work place who helps build up other women, and anyone who has the courage to open their own small business.

How do you unwind?

As an artist and a crafter, I bead and crochet to clear my head. Although spending any spare time I have with my husband, Joe, and our family and friends is the best stress relief I’ve found!

Describe your business.

The Bundle Store is a natural parenting shop that supports expectant mothers and fathers throughout their pregnancy and into parenthood. We specialize in baby wearing, cloth diapers, wooden toys, handmade items, and all things whimsy and fun for little ones. We also provide nursing bra fittings and carry wonderful maternity/nursing items for mothers. In addition to the retail aspect of the business, we offer several classes for parents and their babies. We love sharing information and relishing in the many facets of growing and nurturing a baby—the joy, anxiety, stress, love and laughter.

How long have you been in business?

Going into our 4th year this month!

Have you always wanted to own your own business?  If not, how did you come to do so?

I don’t know that I’ve always wanted to own my own business but I’ve always been a determined leader. If I see a problem or a void, I try to step up and make things happen. I think the beauty of being a small business owner is that you can do just that—make change in your little part of the world and see your community grow with it.

Who do you admire most in business?

I admire my father most in business. He’s worked hard his whole life and he’s taught me that even at his age he’s still learning as an entrepreneur. He loves what he does and he has never compromised who he truly is when it comes to how he runs his business.

How do you unwind?

I find some good Brazilian tunes on my phone and dance it out with my 4-year-old daughter. There’s usually some jumping on the bed involved.
